Kara K. Goodman
With over 12 years of experience in family law, Kara Goodman has built a reputation as both a compassionate counselor and a powerful advocate. Her calling to the practice began early, shaped by her own childhood experience with divorce—a moment that inspired her lifelong mission to help families navigate transitions with dignity and strength.
Before founding The Goodman Law Firm, Kara spent nearly a decade at one of the nation’s largest domestic law firms, where she represented hundreds of clients and mentored attorneys nationwide. Today, as Managing Attorney, she leads with a unique blend of empathy, strategy, and authenticity, ensuring that every client feels heard, supported, and empowered.
Kara’s approach to family law is grounded in the belief that representation is never one-size-fits-all. She listens first, then crafts strategies tailored to each client’s circumstances—whether that means protecting parental rights, safeguarding financial futures, or finding collaborative solutions outside of court.
Her dedication extends beyond legal outcomes. Kara is committed to helping clients rebuild their lives with clarity and resilience, providing not only legal guidance but also the reassurance and confidence needed during life’s most difficult transitions.
Active in the legal community, Kara is a member of the American Bar Association (Family Law Section), the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, the Mecklenburg County Bar, and the Bar Leadership Institute Alumni network.
Clients describe Kara as approachable, empathetic, and unyielding in the courtroom—a lawyer who brings both strength and compassion to every case. At her core, she believes her role is not just to fight for her clients, but to educate, empower, and walk beside them through the process.
